Wonders of the worlds have been classified under various lists. They have been compiled from present day to ancient antiquity. You can categorize them in two broad categories, the natural wonders and those of man made structures. Here are the original seven wonders of the world, check them out

The great pyramids of Giza

These pyramids are believed to have been constructed around 2569 B.C and are the only standing original wonders from the original seven. Egyptologists actually are of the opinion that these stunning monuments were constructed using more than 2 million blocks of stones and are believed to have taken more than 20 years to complete. The pyramid was build by 20000 men and served as the tombs of the 4th pharaoh Khufu. Experts up to today are marveled by the accuracy of the whole construction; the base covers 13 acres and is almost a perfect square in shape.

The hanging gardens of Babylon are the centerpiece of the ancient Babylon Metropolis and are approximately 50 miles south of the modern Baghdad. No historical records actually show that these hanging gardens actually existed and this makes scholars actually doubt if they really existed. The gardens are believed to have been constructed by King Nebuchadnezzar II who ruled in the 7th century B.C. and was meant for his wife from medina.

Statue of Zeus at Olympia

The statue of Zeus stands over 40 feet tall and is constructed of gold and ivory. The statue is found within the temple at Olympia and was constructed by Greek sculptors, Pheidias around the year 435 B.C.

The temple of Artemis at Ephesus

This temple was built around 550 B.C by an ancient architect, Cherisphron. This temple is located in modern day turkey and was built in honor of Artemis who was a Greek goddess responsible for hunting and fertility. The façade of the temple was exceptional as it had bronze statues which were attributed to great sculptors. The stunning marble structure was encompassed by 127 ionic columns which towered to heights of 60 feet.

The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus

This mausoleum is admired for its striking beauty; the mausoleum is also located in turkey in the modern city of Bodrum. It was built as a tomb for the ancient king of Persia, King Mausollos of Caria and was believed to have been completed around 35 B.C, few years after the king died.
The 110 foot high statue overlooked the ancient harbor of Greek Island of Rhodes for approximately 56 years only. Its size actually created an awe in visitors who for view it as an ancient wonder centuries after it was destroyed.

The Lighthouse (Pharos) of Alexandria

Located on the ancient island of Pharos off the Egyptian city of Alexandria, this lighthouse was designed in the 3rd century B.C. it was constructed on large blocks of stones which were up to 400 feet and served as the tallest structure ever built by man for many centuries.
